“BOYS – NOISE WITH DIRT ON IT”

Funny? Clever? Offensive?

This mom of a boy thinks it’s funny… and in my case, very true.  He’s also occassionally loud, clean and really sweet.

It seems that nothing is without controversy lately and this thread started by 5Kidsanddone seems a little extreme with statements like  “Well, I took offense to this, and told my friend and her SIL that I had a good mind to go and say something to the vendors about how offensive it was.”

Really? Is it so offensive that you would want to ruin a persons day with your opinion?

Is it a big deal that girls get more retail space for clothing than boys?  I think it might have to do with the fact that boys don’t wear dresses, skirts, skorts, frilly socks in 20 colors, and a rainbow of colored shirts in all styles.  Boys are usually stuck with green, blue, black and gray t-shirts or polos, socks of the same colors and pants or shorts.  Makes sense to me.

I like My2Momma’sBoys suggestion for the vendor to put up a plaque (page 8):

Disclaimer: Although the information and recommendations of said plaque are presented in good faith and believed to be correct they should not be viewed as a broad generalization, Creator of said plaque  makes no representations or warranties as to the completeness or accuracy of the information.

  1. This thread was ridiculous. I think what bothers me the most is the use of the world ‘offensive’. Really? It was offensive? Or did it just irritate you? There’s a big difference, idiots.

  2. I am sick of everyone being offended. Why can’t people just let some things go? Saying your offended has been so diluted these days that when someone is justified no one notices.

Your boys maybe the picture of angels sent from heaven, but mine is noisy, dirty and never sits still. Does that make him bad, no, but it does make the sign true for me and could be applied to my daughter. Isn’t there bigger things to worry about.
